about me

Hello, I'm Kota (Jonkota Samuels), an artist passionate about creating motion graphics and graphic design. I love delving into After Effects to explore its new features and effects, allowing me to experiment and craft unique works. In my workflow, I pay close attention to detail, tailoring and fine-tuning the motion development of my craft to ensure a smooth and seamless flow of all elements. I view diving into new software as an enjoyable adventure that can enhance my work and lead to visually unique motion design projects. I'm excited to venture into 3D work and create design assets and motion elements using Blender's 3D software and other 3D software too.

Originally from Augusta, GA, I earned my Bachelor of Fine Art in Graphic Design from Augusta University before discovering my passion for Motion Graphics. My journey into this art field began in my senior year of undergrad through an elective course called 'Kinetic Environments.' This class introduced me to a whole new sector of the art world, combining the structures of graphic design with animating elements in motion, and I instantly fell in love with it. Motion graphics led me to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design for grad school, where I completed my Master of Art in Motion Media Design.

Apart from art, I enjoy simple pleasures like nature, stargazing, spending time with loved ones, and relaxing on rainy days. I also like exploring new coffee shops, watching tutorials, and reminiscing over throwback cartoons that used to air on Saturday mornings.
